Dr Piers Harington
Dr Piers Harington graduated in 1982 with his MB ChB, he worked for 3 years as a Mine Medical Officer in the Orange Free State, and during that time did a Diploma in Anaesthesia.
His specialists training took him to the Groote Schuur group of hospitals, and in 1992 he graduated as a specialist Anaesthesiologist. Post fellowship, he joined Cape Anaesthetics, as a partner.
In 1997, he began a 7-year stint in the Middle East. Working in transplant surgery, Paediatric surgery, Neurosurgery and Orthopaedic surgery at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre. Additionally, during this time, he worked at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital’s Children’s Cancer Hospital ICU.
He returned to Cape Town in 2005, re-joining Cape Anaesthetics. Currently, his main field of work is in shoulder and elbow Orthopaedic surgery, ear nose and throat (ENT) (both adults and children) surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and maxillo-facial surgery.
Dr Harington is married to Sharon and has 3 children spread across the globe. He is a runner, amateur birder and enjoys walking and mountain biking on Table Mountain with his three dogs.
